Julia Lester, 2017/18 Brigden Fair Ambassador
Julia Lester is 19 years old and lives in the town of Wilkesport. She is the only daughter of 5 children in her family. She is currently enrolled in her second year of Practical Nursing at Lambton College and works part time at The Source in Wallaceburg. Julia hopes to become a maternity and pediatric nurse after she graduates because she enjoys caring for her niece, nephews and many younger cousins.
Julia’s hobbies include gardening, baseball, reading, cooking and taking care of her chickens, dogs, and cat. Her love for animals has led her to have many pets, and she intends to adopt more animals in the future. She also loves to spend time on her uncle’s farm with the cattle and lambs. Julia feels strongly about the environment and loves to spend time outdoors, whether it be kayaking, tobogganing or hiking.
Julia volunteers with her local fire department and plans to join someday in the near future, just as her grandfather, father and brothers did before her. Julia also intends to donate 12 inches of hair to Locks of Love, the foundation that provides wigs for those who have lost their hair to cancer. She is also a registered blood and stem cell donor and would like to remind everyone that blood donors save lives.
About The Ambassador Program
The Brigden Fair Ambassador program was started in 1972 and has been changing and growing every year. Today it is seen as an opportunity for youth to learn and grow within the community.
To be the Brigden Fair Ambassador you don’t have to know about agriculture, live on a farm or have grown up in Brigden. You will only need to be between the ages of 17 and 24 (as of August 1, 2017) and have an eagerness to learn. This program is about learning, being seen as a leader in the community, taking on new challenges and let’s face it – having it on your resume doesn’t hurt either.
To learn more come to our information session in July 2017 (more details to come) at the Exhibition Hall of the Brigden Fairgrounds and learn more about this leadership opportunity.
Ambassador Competition: Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 2:00pm

The Ambassador is to compete in the C.N.E. Ambassador of the Fairs in August 2018. The winner will reign until a new Brigden Fair Ambassador is chosen for Brigden Fair 2018/2019.
